AUTHOR: NAD Stewardship

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a few cents. Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everythingall she had to live on." Mark 12:41-44 NIV

The economy of heaven is different than ours. In this story the widow put in two small coins, the rich put in large amounts, yet Jesus said, she put more into the treasury than all the others.? Who would get the largest tithe and offering receipt from the church treasurer? This is very interesting.

The reason the widow was exalted by Christ is because in giving motive is everything,? The widow put in everything indicating her total trust and total commitment to God. While we are not asked to give everything we have, we should be willing to give it if God asked for it and our commitment to the Kingdom of Christ must occupy first place in our hearts.

Appeal: Our church has many needs, things like electricity, materials, water, program costs, and in some cases a mortgage along with many other expenses. As members it is our privilege to give from our hearts to assist the church in its work in our area.
