Selfishness is the strongest of all human passions. The selfish heart will seek any means which will serve its own interests. Even though the mind might acknowledge that church and mission programs, the care of the poor, and other ministries are good, the selfish heart will seek other methods to accomplish this without sacrificing its own desire. That is why we must pray for the grace of giving. The grace of giving is God’s antidote for human selfishness.

Sacrificial giving always costs us something and is designed by God to develop characters that are safe to save. A constant and prayerful vigilance is needed to guard against our natural selfish tendencies.

Appeal: Adventist Community Services exists to assist and care for the needs of others and especially in the great metropolises of North America. There are millions of people to reach for Christ and very expensive venues in which to establish churches.

Today’s offering is for the World Budget and Adventist Community Services is one of the recipients of this offering. Let’s pray.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, you have given us a work to do and when we look at the cities of North America we are reminded of the incredible challenges. We need your help and your power. Please bless this offering and use it to impact these cities for your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
