Stewardship Done Right is Whole-Life Balance

At recent conventions, we’ve been sharing the message of whole-life balance in a creative way—through a game called Suspend. The game features 24 wires of varying lengths that must be carefully hung from a central hook without toppling. Placed alongside a sign declaring, “Stewardship Done Right is Whole-Life Balance,” the activity quickly draws in curious participants.

At first, many find the challenge a little intimidating, but with encouragement (and sometimes the promise of a small prize), nearly everyone succeeds. Some builders take the rectilinear approach, carefully arranging the wires in neat, symmetrical patterns. Others prefer the organic approach, hanging pieces at unexpected angles that still manage to hold together. At our conventions, no two winners ever suspended their 24 wires the same way.

These different strategies serve as a reminder: no two lives look the same. What matters most is discovering balance in the way God leads your life. Just like in the game, stewardship done right means seeking whole-life balance—managing not only our tasks and time, but also caring for our health, our resources, and the talents God has given us. And of course, every successful builder walked away smiling—with a fresh sense of what true stewardship is all about, and in some cases, a small gift to help them remember the lesson of balance.
