The 2024 International Pathfinder Camporee was an adventure. Many things didn’t go as planned, but the Stewardship Honor was popular among the Pathfinders nonetheless.
A thunderstorm sent campers scampering into the buildings for shelter as their campsites were swamped, then they thronged back into the buildings when classes opened again to learn how stewardship was whole-life management based on their relationship with God.
The dirt floor was scuffed up into a visible haze filling the air and covering every surface, but that didn’t keep our dedicated volunteers from all over North America from sharing their own experiences of living stewardship.
The occasional Pathfinder used the seated time to take a nap, but far more engaged with the lesson and were rewarded with small gifts. All who took the class received a small Stewardship Jack pin and a large North American Division pin. Overall, between 900 and 1,000 students took the class and 209 also completed the community service project which allowed them to receive the stewardship patch on site.
In response to interest expressed at the Camporee we are working on preparing a version of our teaching materials to be available through our website for clubs to use in learning the honor on their own. If you went through our class at Camporee and have comments or suggestions we welcome your input: stewardship@nadadventist.org.
